The Issacs Construction Rolleston Kids Triathlon follows the traditional swim, bike, run format of triathlon. The event is specifically designed for primary school aged children and structured to give them an introductory experience to the sport through a fun, positive and encouraging atmosphere.
The event is run out of the Selwyn Aquatic Centre and Foster Park in Rolleston. The participants will swim in the pool complex and upon exiting the pool, grab their bikes, push them across Broadlands Drive and begin the bike course. Within the confines of Foster Park they will complete the bike and run components of the race before finishing the event.
The event is not be timed and there will be no prizes for winners. The focus of the event is participation and completion. Each participant will receive a gift as a ‘memento’ of their participation, which they can be proud of earning upon completion.
Please find below some key information that you and your parents/caregivers need to know before the race day.
Compulsory Gear
The following items of equipment are compulsory and you must have these with you in order to complete in
the event. If you don’t you will not be allowed to take your place on the start line.
1. A helmet and safe bike (eg: brakes work, tyres pumped up, tread etc) – No unicycles, E-Bikes,
scooters, skate boards etc. Bikes with training wheels are ok.
2. Shoes that have the toes covered to be worn for both the bike and run.
3. A tee-shirt or top to bike and run in.
4. Race Number and Bike Band (Provided at registration).
Race numbers must be worn on the front of tee-shirts for the bike and run legs, use the supplied pins to attach to the tee-shirt.
Coloured Bike Band - Put the supplied named coloured band around the seat post of the child’s bike, this is to help with the identification of bikes at the end of the event.
Registration & Rack Pack Pick-up
There will be two times available to register for the event prior to the race start:
Friday 8th March 2024 3:30pm - 6:30pm in the foyer of the Selwyn Sports Centre
Sunday 10th March 2024 8:00-8:50am in the foyer of the Selwyn Aquatic Centre
We recommend you register on Friday if possible so that Sunday isn't rushed for your child
The 2024 event is on Sunday 10 March and all race briefings are held at Foster Park or the Selwyn Aquatic Centre

5 & 6 year old Duathlon
8.50am - Race Briefing at the Foster Park Start/Finish Line.
9.00am - Race Start at the Foster Park start line.
7 & 8 year old Triathlon
9.20am - Race Briefing in the Selwyn Aquatic Centre carpark.
9.30am - Race Start at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre pool side.
9 & 10 year old Triathlon
9.30am - Race Briefing in the Selwyn Aquatic Centre carpark.
9.40am - Race Start at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre pool side.
11 to 13 year old Triathlon
9.30am - Race Briefing in the Selwyn Aquatic Centre carpark.
9.45am - Race Start at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre pool side.
By entering this event you are aware of and agree to abide by the following:
Fair Play
This event is about participation and Fair Play. By entering, you and your child agree to abide by the principles of Fair
Play (eg: Respect for the rules, courtesy, just and equitable treatment for all participants, spectators and volunteers
alike)
We also encourage all spectators on the day to encourage and cheer for all participants present and to equally abide by
the principles of Fair Play.
First Aid
If a participant requires first aid please approach a marshal or event staff who will dispatch the event first aid provider
to the scene of the injured participant.
Transition
5-6 year olds - one parent/support person is able to help their child with transition by entering the transition area. They
must be wearing the colored band of their child’s age group which will be numbered with their child’s number.
The transition area constitutes part of the course and as such only participants in the process of completing the course
and marshals are permitted to enter during the event.
If a participant requires medication a parent/support person must have this on them and administer it when required.
If participants require clothing, or food left by their bike, participants (not parents or family members) will be able to
access this by approaching a marshal and following their instructions to ensure safety to active participants.
Refunds
There will be no refunds given
Lost Property
Event organisers, officials and venue staff take no responsibility for any property lost at the event.
If you have lost an item of property we recommend you check at the lost property area by the finish line.
The Selwyn Sports Trust will endeavor to collate all lost property post event and send out a publication to parents informing them of such property and liaise a collection process. Any remaining unclaimed property will be donated to charity after a generous amount of time given to parents to collect.
By registering your child to enter this event, you have confirmed that you have read and understood the entry
waiver and Terms and Conditions of entry relating to the Rolleston Kids Triathlon.
1. I confirm that I am authorized to enter my child named in this entry in the Rolleston Kids Triathlon to
be held at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre and Foster Park, Rolleston. I give this waiver personally and on their behalf.
2. I confirm that my child named in this entry is entered in the correct age category (as of the day of the
event), that I have disclosed all relevant medical conditions (including allergies) to the event
organisers and I can verify that my child is competent to do this event.
3. I agree to comply with the rules and event instructions and enter at my child’s own risk. Accordingly
I release Selwyn Sports Trust Selwyn Aquatic Centre, Selwyn District Council and organisers of
this event from all claims, demands and proceedings arising out of my child’s participation in this
event. I further understand that the Selwyn Sports Trust, Selwyn Aquatic Centre, Selwyn District
Council nor the organisers of this event take any responsibility for the loss of or damage to property
arising in connection with this event.
4. I understand that for health and safety reasons, participants (ie: my child) must:
a. Ensure that they complete the distances stated
b. Listen to all directions given by event officials
c. Wear an approved cycle helmet during the bike leg of the event
d. Ride a bike which is safe and ‘roadworthy’ (eg: functioning brakes, inflated tyres, seat)
e. Wear closed in shoes for the bike and run legs (no jandals, sandals, barefeet)
f. Bikes are unable to be removed from transition until directed by event officials and myself,
my child and supporters will adhere to this.
g. I agree that any photographs, videos and/or other images of my child taken during the event
